Denver is a great place to getaway for a long weekend or even a week long trip. Check out some of my favorite places to go with and without kids.

Hammond’s Candy Factory Tour:

Have you ever wondered how lollipops or candy canes are made? Head to Hammond’s Candy Factory for a tour. The tours run every 30 minutes and no reservation are needed for groups under 10. If you do have a large group make sure to schedule a tour so your group can stay together. My kids enjoy watching the workers mix, pull and mold large batches of candy. Of course, the candy store at the end is a huge hit! Make sure to plan of getting a treat in the store at the end of your tour. Address: 5735 N. Washington Street Denver, CO 80216

Buffalo Bill’s Museum and Grave:

A short drive from Denver to Golden, CO is the Buffalo Bill’s Museum and grave site. At the request of Buffalo Bill, he was buried at Lookout Mountain in 1917. His gravesite overlooks the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountain range. The museum has several permanent exhibits, including the history of Buffalo Bill. Check out their website for winter and summer hours, and the price of admission.

Check out a Professional Sporting Event:

With Coors Field, Sports Authority Field at Mile High and the Pepsi Center, Denver always has a game to attend! My sports loving family enjoys going to see the local teams play. Sometimes they turn into fans and sometimes they love to boo a rival team. I love the games for the stadium food.

Children’s Museum of Denver:

When you have kids, going to a children’s museum is always a hit. And the Children’s Museum of Denver is a great one. Explore interactive, super fun exhibits that let kids learn and discover on their own terms. During the warmer months, make sure to head outside to Joy park. At Joy Park you can ride the zipline, build a fort and play at the splash pad. Make sure to bring clothes to play in the water and sunscreen! Play for free the first Tuesday of every month!
